With the end of 2010, Mike Albert Vehicle Fleet Management wrapped up its most charitable year in company history, despite a tough economy and tighter budgets for most businesses.

Evendale-based Mike Albert, a national leader in the fleet management industry, partnered with the United Way of Greater Cincinnati to create a formal Community Outreach Program in May 2010 after employees expressed an interest in increasing their charitable efforts in the community. The Community Outreach Program, which is comprised of volunteer opportunities, complements the company’s existing charitable efforts.

“Giving back to the communities where we do business has always been one of our core values,” said Pat Stull, Chief Operating Officer for Mike Albert. “Last year, our employees challenged the company to be further involved in volunteer efforts in the community. The result was a formal Community Outreach Program, which was a great success in 2010. It’s certainly something that will continue to be a priority for Mike Albert.” In addition to financial donations, employees expressed a strong interest in working handson with people and organizations in need. As part of the Community Outreach Program, Mike Albert offered employees paid time off during business hours to volunteer at various non-profit organizations.

Mike Albert employees packed and sorted goods for Matthew 25: Ministries, spent time with children at Visions Community Services, cooked meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House, and arranged and distributed Thanksgiving meals at the Freestore Foodbank. In all, more than 90 Mike Albert employees volunteered over 300 man-hours in 2010. As a result of the increased efforts, Mike Albert was recognized on the United Way’s “Live United 100” list for the first time.

In addition to the volunteer events, Mike Albert employees aided several other area organizations in 2010, including the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Hoxworth Blood Center, Cincinnati Shriners Hospital for Children, March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program. Employees also reengaged with Ronald McDonald House to provide more than 160 Christmas presents for families in
